How to Hang Odd-Shaped Glass Decorative Wall Plates

If you have several vintage or decorative glass plates in different sizes and shapes, hang them on a wall in your home to create an eclectic and beautiful display. Plates that are in odd shapes such as triangles, ovals, stars and hexagons can add variety and an artistic element to any wall space. You can use standard plate hangers for odd-shaped glass plates, but select small and large plate hangers depending on the size of the plate.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the plate over so the right side of the plate is face-down on the table.

    • 2

Hook one end of the plate hanger on one side of the plate. Traditional plate hangers are formed from hooks that are connected by springs. By hooking the hangers to different sides of the plate, the springs will expand and constrict to fit an odd-shaped plate.

    • 3

Stretch the plate hanger across the back of the plate.

    • 4

Hook the remaining end of the plate hanger on the other end of plate.

    • 5

Hammer a nail in the wall.

    • 6

Hang the plate hanger wire stretched across the back of the plate on the nail. Some plate hangers have hooks in the middle of them so they slip easily on a nail.
