Instructions

    • 1

Determine the dominant color of your eating area or kitchen. Note the wall color as well as the tile and cabinetry and make a list of coordinating colors. For example, a kitchen with yellow walls, pinkish countertops and oak cabinets would have pale yellow as a dominant color.

    • 2

Measure the wall space behind the kitchen table starting at 2 feet above the tabletop. Adjust the measurements to allow for an equal sized margin around the sides and the top.

    • 3

Browse online art sites for works that include the dominant color of your kitchen and reflects any other themes in the room. For example, if the dominant color of your kitchen is yellow but you have incorporated red apples as part of the décor, search for artwork that features red and yellow. Andy Warhol's "Apple" would fit this bill.

    • 4

Order a large print of the artwork you have chosen so that it fills the majority of the wall space behind the table. Refer to your measurements to find the right size print.

    • 5

Frame the artwork in a metal picture frame and unbreakable glass. This protects the artwork from food and steam and makes it easy to clean.

    • 6

Center and hang the artwork behind the table to create a dramatic focal point in the room.
