How to Hang a Canopy in Your Room

As far back as the 13th century, canopies were suspended from the beams on four-poster beds and used to protect sleepers from insects and falling debris. Today, many in North America continue to use the canopy as part of a room's overall look. But now, instead of draping from the bed posts, canopies are often hung from the ceiling.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the spot on the ceiling where you want the canopy to hang. Center the spot over the bed or other furniture.

    • 2

Drill a small hole into the mark using an electric hand drill or Philips screwdriver.

    • 3

Bend the arms of the drywall anchor back, then insert the anchor into the drilled hole in the ceiling. The arms of the anchor will spread out once inserted, creating a base for support.

    • 4

Twist the canopy hook into the opening on the drywall anchor with your hand.

    • 5

Hang the loop at the top of the canopy from the hook.
