How to Decorate a Wire Wreath

Unlike a wreath built on a wire frame, a wire wreath features the metal. In fact, the wire -- twisted into a hoop like grapevines, rolled into an oversize spring or layered and shaped -- is the center of attention. But you can go a step further and enhance it. Decorating a wire wreath is similar to decorating a grapevine wreath but without the hassle of dealing with breakable branches.

Things You'll Need

  • Wide wire-lined craft ribbon
  • Floral wire
  • Embellishments, such as ornamental balls, pinecones, silk flowers
  • Hot glue

Instructions

    • 1

      Cut a 3-foot piece of wire-lined ribbon.

    • 2

Fold the ribbon in half over the bottom of the wire wreath so that the two ends hang beneath it. Twist it twice around at the base of the wreath and shape the ends into an upside-down "V." Trim the ends of the ribbon at a 45-degree angle.

    • 3

Thread floral wire around your selected embellishments. Place them as desired. Attach each to the wreath by twisting the floral wire around a section of wreath wire.

    • 4

Lift up the wreath. If any embellishments slip or seem loose, reinforce them with hot glue.
