How to Frame a Scarf

Scarves may look great around your neck but the colorful pieces of fabric also look great as artwork. When framing a scarf, choose a frame that is about an inch wider than the scarf. This will create a mat around the scarf. Either go through your own scarves or look for colorful scarves at your local consignment shop. Create a set of framed scarves and hang them in your home together.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the scarf thoroughly either by hand or by taking it to a dry cleaner. Let the scarf dry and iron it if it is safe to do so. If not, steam the scarf to get rid of any excess wrinkles.

    • 2

Stretch and mount a piece of plain, neutral-colored cotton fabric to the frame's backing. Either staple the fabric onto the backing, or use a fabric glue to attach it. Let the glue dry.

    • 3

Pin your scarf into place on the fabric backing. Hand sew the scarf onto the fabric with a thread that is the same color as the scarf. Sew it just enough so that it stays secure in the frame. Remove the pins once you are done sewing.

Assemble the rest of the frame according to its directions and hang it on your wall.
