Remove leftover food from your porcelain dishes immediately after eating. If you won’t be washing them right away, rinse the dishes with clear water. Do not leave them soaking in soapy water.
Line your sink, including the faucet, with thick dish towels or rubber mats when washing to prevent your dishes from chipping.
Fill your sink with warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Fragrance-free dish-washing detergent is best, and never use detergent that contains bleach.
Wash one dish at a time using your fingers and nails to gently scrub away any food. If needed, use a soft toothbrush or soft-bristled scrub brush to help you, but push gently. Be especially careful on any raised, painted designs.
Rinse your dishes with warm water.
Let your dishes air- and drip-dry on a drying rack. Even if the dishes appear dry, pat them gently with a soft towel or a paper towel before storing them.
Store your dishes in a cool and dry place. Don’t stack plates and bowls any more than four high and cups no more than two high because stacking more can weaken the rims.
Place dish liners between your dishes when storing to protect them from scratching when removing them.
