How to Glue Dinner Plates on a Wall

Plates are more than just useful for eating, they are often works of art. Many people collect plates and prefer to show off their collections, rather than eat off of them. The most ideal way to display a plate on the wall is to set it upon a shelf. You can glue it to the wall, but any glue strong enough to hold the plate in place could also damage the plate and wall finish. Collectible and valuable plates should not be glued to the wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Bead construction adhesive around the inner rim of the back of the plate. If the plate is flat, smooth adhesive over the entire back surface.

    • 2

Hold the plate against the wall. Quickly adjust it if needed. Then hold it in place for 60 seconds or more to ensure the plate has adhered.

    • 3

Remove your hand slowly from the plate. Tug at the plate with medium pressure to make sure it stays in place. If not, hold it in place longer.

    • 4

Prop a mop or other tall object against the plate to help hold it in place for 24 hours or more.
