  Hang pictures above a doorway. Choose images that are important to you, since elevating their position communicates significance. Continue the pictures down the sides of the doorway, if you like, so that viewers’ eyes will move upward from sight level.

  Attach decorative molding or brackets to the wall above the door. These pieces are available quite inexpensively at home improvement and hardware stores. This touch will make even a standard, plain door seem taller and more regal.
