You have probably seen standalone cloth napkin sculptures in many festive and whimsical shapes. The folded napkin contributes to the creation of a beautiful table setting, whether formal or informal. Fewer napkin-folding techniques exist, if you want to have the utensils displayed inside the decorative napkin. A best practice is to use the method described by the Butler’s Guild, where the napkin is folded into a shape called the “ice cream cone.” You may then insert utensils and add your own napkin jewelry, such as strings of beads or garland, snippets of rosemary, colorful ribbons, light-up pins, fresh flowers or other ornamental materials.

Instructions
1
Folding napkins can be fun.
Spread the cloth napkin out on a flat surface. Fold the napkin in quarters, by folding in half and then folding in half again. Turn the napkin so that the loose points are at the top.
2
It only takes a few folds to make a decorative napkin.
Fold the top layer back to the center -- away from you -- and tuck it inside, so it forms a pouch.
3
A rainbow of colors exists for your napkin fabric of choice.
Fold the next layer back and inside, leaving 1 inch exposed. Fold the next layer back and inside, again leaving 1 inch of fabric exposed.
4
Your folded napkins will display the utensils.
Turn the whole thing over. Fold the left and right sides toward the center, so that both line up and end in a point at the bottom.
5
After folding, decorate with flower petals or any materials of your choosing.
