How to Decorate Using an Indoor Waterfall

An indoor waterfall will be the focal point in any room. To enhance the visual effect, place appropriate decor around it. Choose decor based on your personal preferences and the other design elements in the room. The waterfall should look like an organic part of the room.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the wall behind the water feature an accent color. That means selecting a color that is either a shade lighter or darker than the color used on the other walls or use a contrasting color.

    • 2

Install spotlighting above the water feature. One spotlight should be directly above the water feature. Any others should be spaced evenly along the wall.

    • 3

Stack stones around the base of the waterfall. Stones will make the waterfall look more natural. Stack the stones in natural formations rather than arranging them neatly.

    • 4

Place tropical plants near the water feature. If the water feature is large enough, you can set tall real or artificial plants beside it. Place real potted plants among the rock stack. Use similar plants in other parts of the room as well.

    • 5

Hang pictures of nature on the same wall as the waterfall. If the water feature is small to medium-sized, pictures will help fill the wall. You may not need pictures for a large water feature. Instead, hang these natural images on the other walls in the room.
