Paint the walls a color with depth to make the black and white prints stand out. A deep blue, purple or red, or a brighter color, such as yellow or turquoise, will provide an interesting backdrop for the pictures.
Mat and frame the photos using the same colors or style for each to carry out a common look. White mats and black frames are common, although you can use a brighter color mat or frame for a different look.
Arrange the pictures on the floor or along the hallway where you want them to go. It's easier to rearrange the photos and get it right before you start nailing or sticking things to the wall. If there isn't enough room in the hallway to lay out the photos, use an adjoining room's floorspace.
Measure the distance from the floor or ceiling to determine where to place your pictures and mark each spot with a pencil. Measure the distance from one picture to the next as well to ensure your photos line up the way you want them to. The pictures should be hung at eye level or where the center of the pictures is about 48 to 56 inches from the floor.
Hammer in small nails or picture hangers where you marked the wall with a pencil. Use double-sided foam or picture adhesive products that are designed to hold the frames without causing any permanent damage to the walls.
Hang the pictures. View the arrangement from either side of the hallway and at different points along the hall. Make any necessary adjustments.
