How to Decorate a Wall With a Circle Mirror

A star quality, circular mirror could take center stage in a curvaceous wall grouping, if you employ the right “supporting cast.” In decor, odd numbered collections of like objects make a bona fide style statement. Scavenge for spherical items already in your house or from home decor and antique shops. Keep the objects somewhat dissimilar for visual amusement. Producing a unified wall collage requires only that you have a style preference and some placement knowledge so as not to outperform the circular center stage “celebrity.”

Group two or four smaller mirrors surrounding the larger “megastar” mirror, depending on wall space. Find secondary mirrors with frames in colors and styles from mango to magenta to metal, and earthy to starburst to ultra modern that blend famously within your space. Scatter these “supporting actors” around the feature mirror in a way that looks unintentional for a relaxed concept. As with artwork, the center of the main mirror should sit at average eye-level, about 60 inches from the floor. Although placed haphazardly, keep the middles of the additional mirrors within an acceptable height range, staggered from 55 to 65 inches from the floor.

Entertain the eye by introducing to the wall square or rectangular framed art with a circular “story." Sticking to one theme, scout for style-appropriate abstract, antique, eclectic or contemporary pictures depicting the likes of gumballs, wheels, planets or clocks or -- for a more subtle hint of shape -- a tree full of beady-eyed owls, school of pudgy tropical fish or a sunhat with a woman underneath. Hang the pictures slightly lower than the focal-point mirror and limit the artwork to one large picture or three assorted size pieces, depending on the wall space available, so as not to detract from or crowd the glass assemblage.

Grouping in odd numbers creates drama and the illusion of a "whole."

Fill some of the bare space between the larger groupings with style and color-coordinating extras. Randomly cluster three or five unexpected miniatures here and there. To dimly spotlight tiny trinkets, such as painted eggs or tiny clay pots, tuck them into shadow boxes. An antique reel of film or froufrou hat could stand alone. Finding balance is a trial and error job that may require a few takes. Strive to equalize the “weight” of the room; if a sofa sits to the right along the wall, try placing the prominent glass grouping to the left, the artwork above the seating and an “entourage” scattering of remnants throughout.

Find nature's spiral decor in sea shells, split rocks and tree rings.

Place a globe or spherical lamp on a side table against the showstopper wall. Scatter a few round pillows on chairs and ball candles over the coffee table as adoring fans. By placing a few complementary things strategically around the room, you’ll pull the stylish “act” together for an award-winning finish.
