How to Create Your Own Fall Wishing Tree

Create your own fall wishing trees with a few simple household items. Wishing trees are used to express hopes, wishes or prayers. They can be used for wedding couples, absent family members, birthdays, Thanksgiving or just to give hope in a difficult time. Participants write down their dreams, wishes, hopes and prayers and pin them to the tree. They are both elegant and decorative and can make a great feature at your special event.

Instructions

    • 1

Sand the tree branches lightly. Wipe the branches with a soft cloth to remove dust and debris.

    • 2

Shake the spray paint well. Lay down the newspapers in a well ventilated area. Spray the tree branches and leave to dry.

    • 3

Place the floral foam into the flower pot. Press the painted tree branches into the floral foam and arrange them as desired.

    • 4

Place the colored card stock on your work surface. Use the pencil to draw a template of a leaf. This leaf can be any shape or size you want, but it must be big enough for people to write their wishes on. Cut out the leaf template.

    • 5

Use the template to trace as many leaves as you can on the colored card stock. Cut the leaves out.

    • 6

Punch a hole in each leaf. Cut the ribbon or string into 3 inch pieces. Tie each piece to a leaf. Place the leaves in a bowl near the wishing tree with a couple of pens so that people can write on the leaves. Once they have written on the leaves, they can hang them from the tree.
