Hanging a Mosaic Hardipanel

Hardipanel is cement fiber board that is typically used for a variety of home projects, including home siding, deck flooring or as a replacement for interior drywall sheets. Hardipanel can also be used as a backing to create mosaics on so that they can be moved from one location to another without destroying the artwork. Leave small open spaces within large mosaic patterns where you can screw the mosaic to the wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the studs in the wall where you plan to hang your mosaic. Measure the distance between vertical studs using a measuring tape to determine screw placement on the mosaic.

    • 2

Measure and mark your Hardipanel board with a pencil where you will need screws, making one mark for each stud location. Be sure to mark along the top and bottom of the board. Make all marks at least one inch from the edges of the board for stability.

    • 3

Create your mosaic, leaving a 2 centimeter hole around each screw placement mark. Allow the mosaic to dry completely before hanging.

    • 4

Ask another person to help hold the mosaic while you hang it. Position the mosaic so that the screw holes match up with the wall studs. Screw the mosaic onto the wall with cement board screws using a cordless drill.
