Measure and cut six 5-foot long strips of 1-inch diameter PVC pipe. Measure and cut six 18-inch long strips of 1-inch diameter PVC pipe. The 5-foot long sections of pipe are to make the height of the three-panel room divider; the 18-inch sections are for the width of each individual panel. Adjust your measurements to fit the desired size of your room divider.
Spread waterproof construction adhesive into one 1-inch diameter PVC elbow fitting. Spread waterproof construction adhesive onto one end of a 5-foot long pipe and onto one end of an 18-inch long strip. Insert the glued end of the 18-inch long strip into one opening of the elbow fitting and the glued end of the 5-foot long pipe into the other opening.
Apply glue and add another 1-inch diameter PVC elbow fitting to the opposite ends of each pipe attached to the first fitting. Make a PVC pipe rectangle by attaching a 5-foot long pipe into the open end of the fitting attached to the 18-inch pipe and attaching an 18-inch pipe to the open end of the fitting attached to the first 5-foot long pipe.
Join the two new pipes together at the corner with another PVC elbow. This rectangle is the first panel for the PVC pipe room divider frame. Follow the process to make two additional PVC pipe panel frames for the room divider.
Place the three PVC frames side by side on the floor. Measure and mark the two 5-foot long pipes on each side of the center frame 18 inches from the top and 18 inches from the bottom. Measure and mark the 5-foot pipe on the right side of the left PVC frame in the same locations. Measure and mark the 5-foot pipe on the left side of the right PVC frame in the same locations.
Drill a 1/8-inch diameter hole through each mark on the pipe. Drill the holes through the whole pipe, not just one side of each pipe. Cut four 10-inch long strands of satin cording, twine or other strong cording. Insert the cording through the adjacent holes on the center and side pipes. Knot each cord to connect the pipes. Trim the excess cording.
Measure one panel from the top center of the top pipe to the bottom center of the bottom pipe to determine the length of each fabric cover. Measure one panel from the center of the left side panel to the center of the right side panel to determine the width of the fabric. Cut six fabric panels equal to these measurements.
Lay one fabric panel face down on the floor. Spray adhesive on one side of the left PVC frame. Center the frame on the fabric and press the PVC down onto the fabric. Pull the top edge of the fabric over the top of the PVC pipe. Glue the fabric along the top of the pipe with hot glue. Follow the process to glue the edges of the fabric panel to the perimeter of the left pipe frame. Slit the fabric to fit around the satin cording.
Follow the process to attach fabric to one side of the remaining two panels. Follow the same process to attach fabric panels to the opposite side of each panel, overlapping the fabric around the edges.
