The Best Way to Frame a Newspaper

It can be exciting when you, your business or a historical event is highlighted in the newspaper. Framing the clipping and hanging it on the wall allows you to happily be reminded of the event whenever you pass by it. Preserving newspapers can be difficult; the paper used in newspapers is highly acidic and meant to only last a short time. Fading and yellowing are common occurrences with newspapers; however, there are ways to frame your clip and keep it for prosperity.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the newspaper clipping to a copy store to be copied on their high-quality copiers. The print quality of most home scanners and printers will cause the ink to fade over time; machines used at copy stores will allow the print to remain intact for a longer period of time.

    • 2

Have the clipping printed on permanent acid-free paper to prevent the text from fading over time.

    • 3

Purchase a frame made of plexiglass rather than glass to hold the clipping. Plexiglass is lighter, yet more durable.

    • 4

Keep the clip out of sunlight once you hang it on the wall. The sun will cause the print to fade over time, even if on permanent paper.
