How to Hang Wall Hangings With Ribbon

Hanging wall art and pictures using just the hardware on the back of the frame gets the job done, but hanging them with ribbon instead of or in addition to that hardware gives your artwork an extra little bit of sweetness. Use ribbon to add a delicate feminine touch to the walls of a nursery, a craft room or any other area of your home.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • 1 1/2-inch-wide ribbon

Instructions

Lay the wall hanging on your work surface. Pretend the tape measure is the ribbon. Use it to create a loop from one corner of the frame to the other with the desired height to determine how much ribbon you will need. Add 2 inches to that length. You will use the extra length to fold the ends.

Cut your ribbon to the determined length. Fold both ends of the ribbon 1/2 inch. Fold them another 1/2 inch. Staple each folded end to one of the top corners of the frame, using a staple gun.

    • 3

Cut a 36-inch-long piece of ribbon if you would like a bow. Tie the bow at the center of the ribbon you've attached to your frame.

Hang your wall hanging from the loop, using a hammer and nail. Remember to hammer in the nail at a height equal to the height of your ribbon loop. You want your wall hanging to be at eye level. So if your ribbon loop is 6 inches high, the nail should be 6 inches above where you want the wall hanging to be.
