When you want to display a small, individual flower, such as a hyacinth, you may not want to use a standard-sized vase designed to hold a larger bouquet. One alternative is to use a bud vase, designed to hold one to three smaller flowers. Instead of buying a hyacinth bud vase from a store, create one yourself using a few basic materials you can find at any arts and crafts store.
Form 16 ounces of polymer clay into a cylinder, and press one side of the cylinder onto a flat surface to cause it to become flatter and wider like the base of a vase.
Smooth the bottom edges of the vase with your fingers.
Hold the cylinder of the vase upright with one of your hands, then insert an unsharpened pencil straight down into the cylinder. Pull the unsharpened pencil back out of the cylinder, leaving a hole behind.
Place the polymer clay bud vase onto a cookie sheet, and bake the vase in a 200-degree Fahrenheit oven for 10 minutes. Allow the vase to cool for 30 minutes.
Paint the entire vase, inside and out, using waterproof latex paint. Allow the paint to dry for two hours before using the bud vase for your hyacinth flowers.
