My Frigidaire Front Loader Is Not Emptying the Fabric Softener

Clogged Dispenser Drawer

• The dispenser drawer contains three separate compartments that is specifically for the main washing detergent, fabric softener and bleach. Fabric softener leaves behind a residue that over time can clog the drawer's drain opening for the fabric softener, which requires manually removing the fabric softener compartment and scrubbing off residue. Once cleaned, the fabric softener should drain properly onto your clothing.

Cycle Interruption

• A cycle interruption before the dispenser's draining process prevents the rinse cycle from continuing and dispensing the fabric softener. Check your washer's power cord to ensure the connection is securely in the electrical outlet, or open the washer's door and slam it shut to ensure the washer's door was not accidentally opened during the cleaning cycle.

Clean Washer

• The clean washer cycle on the Frigidaire washer eliminates residue by washing the inside of the washer to clear out buildup, and maintains the washer's performance when performed on a monthly basis. All clothes should be removed prior to running the system cleaning cycle, as the high temperature used to clean the washer may damage your laundry.

Prevention

• Prevention of fabric softener dispenser issues is possible by manually removing the dispenser drawer from the washing machine and scrubbing the inside of the washer with a scrubbing pad every two to three weeks to reduce residue accumulation. The dispenser drawer has a button near its back that allows you to remove the drawer from the washer for easy cleaning. In addition to cleaning, use only high-quality fabric softeners to prevent residue.
