My Bosch Steam Dryer Is Leaking Water

The Bosch Logixx 8 uses a steam technology system, instead of just hot air, to dry clothes. This drying method removes wrinkles and folds from clothes during the drying process that hot air alone cannot. If a Bosch steam dryer leaks, it may be due to a number of possible issues.
  1. Balance

    • Though a Bosch steam dryer has a built-in seal meant to prevent water leakage, if the unit is out-of-balance, this seal may fail to perform properly. If the steam dryer tilts toward the front, you are especially likely to notice the dryer leaking water. To check whether a Bosch steam dryer sits level, set a builder’s level along the front of the unit, along the back and then along each side of the unit. If the dryer doesn’t sit level, twist the feet on the bottom of the dryer to level the unit.

    Seal

    • If the Bosch steam dryer is level and water still appears to be leaking from the front of the unit, check the seal around the dryer door. When dirt and debris build up on the surface of the seal where it meets the main part of the dryer or between the seal and the door, the buildup may keep the seal from molding properly to the dryer, causing water to escape. Seals with tears or holes will also lead to leaks.

    Seal Maintenance

    • To prevent leaks from occurring due to a buildup of dirt on the Bosch steam dryer seal, clean the seal every month or so with a rag moistened with a mild soap-and-water solution. If small items are lodged behind the seal, use a toothpick to dislodge them. If the Bosch steam dryer seal has tears or holes, you must replace the seal.

    Water Hose

    • Like a washing machine, a Bosch steam dryer requires a water source to perform its steam drying function. If this hose comes loose on the back of the dryer, leaks may occur during the drying cycle as the water pumps through the hose. You can generally feel if the water hose is loose on a Bosch steam dryer by wiggling the hose where it meets the unit. If the hose does feel loose, tighten it with a wrench.
