How to Troubleshoot the Diagnostic Codes on a Frigidaire Dryer

Frigidaire dryers come equipped with a wide variety of features, from steam cycles to special cycles for stuffed animals, a shrink guard and moisture sensors. Frigidaire dryers also feature an electronic display panel that will show an error code if something has gone wrong with one of the cycles, sensors or other problems. Understanding what the error codes mean and how to troubleshoot the problem or when to call Frigidaire will help users resolve the situation.

Instructions

  1. F01 through F03

    • 1

Disconnect power to the dryer, allow it to cool down then plug it back in or restore power at the household breaker panel. An F01, F02 or F03 error code represents a problem with the dryer control. An F01 code means that an internal fault has occurred in the control, and it must be replaced. An F02 error indicates that the temperature sensor has shorted out or is open. F03 indicates that there is no heat to the dryer.

    • 2

Turn the gas valve on fully and check all household fuses or circuit breakers. Replace or reset them as needed.

    • 3

Contact Frigidaire if the error code returns. If the F02 error repeats, the control board or the temperature sensor will need to be replaced. If F03 repeats after making adjustments, the control must be replaced.

    F04 or F05

    • 4

Clean the lint screen and clear the exhaust vent of excess lint or debris. The drying time may have exceeded the usual programming time if the F04 error appears. Additional ventilation may be needed for the dryer in order to improve air flow. Other potential problems include a loose or broken blower fan blade, poor sensor bar circuit connection or dirty sensors.

    • 5

Use a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to clean the sensor bars inside the dryer. If the F04 error comes back, the control should be replaced.

    • 6

Wipe away any residue or debris from the key pad controls and try again. An F05 error means a problem has occurred with the key pad. Contact Frigidaire to have the keypad replaced if the F05 error code comes back.

    E4A and E5B

    • 7

Remove and clean out the lint and exhaust screen if an E4A error code appears. Reduce the overall load size and try to restart the dryer. An E4A error means that the program timed out.

    • 8

Select a “Normal” cycle and turn the temperature selector to “High Heat” then press “Start" if the error code reads E5B. An E5B error is a heater fault error.

    • 9

Contact Frigidaire if the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the E4A or E5B errors as the wiring or control may need repair or replacement.

    E8C

    • 10

Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe off the key pads if an E68 error occurs, which means one of the keys is stuck closed.

    • 11

Disconnect and reconnect power to reset the appliance. If E8C appears, the safety thermostat has tripped repeatedly, and the dryer has shut down automatically as a protective measure.

    • 12

Contact Frigidaire if the error code returns.

    Other Error Codes

    • 13

Disconnect power to your Frigidaire dryer if other error codes appear.

    • 14

Wait 30 minutes then restore power to the dryer.

    • 15

Contact Frigidaire if the error code repeats after the power is reconnected.
