# How to Fix the Hinge of a Frigidaire Affinity Front Load Washing Machine
Frigidaire Affinity washing machines are front-loading appliances with a front door rather than a lid on the top of the appliance. The door has a hinge on the left side that allows you to open and close it with ease. However, if excessive weight is applied to the door, the hinge may break, making it difficult or impossible to close the door. When the hinge is broken, you can remove it from the washing machine and install a new one.

Unplug the washer from the wall outlet before beginning the repair.

Open the washer door, and remove the screws securing the door hinge to the door jamb. Remove the door and door hinge from the front of the washer, and set the door on a sturdy surface.

Remove the screws securing the hinge to the door, then remove and discard the hinge.

Align the new door hinge with the door, then secure it using the screws from the old hinge.

Align the door with the door jamb, and reinstall the door hinge screws, securing the door to the washing machine.

Close the washer door, and restore power to the appliance.
