How to Change the Bearings on a Frigidaire Front-Load Washer

Front-loading Frigidaire washers are quieter than older, traditional-style units, but if the bearings are bad, you may start to hear loud squeaking or scraping noises. Your tub may wobble during the cycle, too. The bearings come already pressed into an assembly that attaches to the front or the back of the washer’s tub. To change those bearings, you must disassemble the unit down to the tub.

Disconnect the washer from the power supply. Remove the back panel and the main top of the washer. Remove the door from the front of unit.

Use a screwdriver to pry out the boot spring from the door opening, then pull out the boot. Slide the detergent drawer from the front and press the button in the back of the tray to release it from the unit. Remove the front panel and the kick plate from the washer.

Remove the motor from the tub and set it aside. Disconnect any wires attached to the tub. Slide the tub out of the unit.

Unscrew and/or unclip the bearing assembly you want to replace from the tub, keeping in mind that there are two -- a front and a rear. Put the new front or rear bearing assembly in place.
