How to Replace the Rear Shell Bearing in a Frigidaire FWT867GHSO

A tub turning is an important part of any washing cycle because it aids in removal of the stains from the clothing. As front loader washer, the Frigidaire FWT867GHS0 uses front and rear bearings to turn the tub during the cycle. When these bearings wear out, the tub starts to make scraping noises or may stop turning altogether. The bearings are pressed in the factory so if you find yourself replacing a bearing, you’re actually replacing the plastic shell with the bearings already installed inside.

    • 3

Remove the screws that hold the front door in place and set the door aside. Pry out the boot spring that holds the boot in place and then pull the boot out of the front door opening.

    • 4

Remove the screws that hold the front panel and kick plate in place and set them aside.

    • 5

Remove the screws, pulley and wiring assembly that connect the tub to the motor of the unit. Slide the tub out of the unit through the front now that it’s free.

    • 6

Rest the tub assembly on a stand or on a cloth the floor so that the rear bearing assembly is facing up and the front bearing assembly is protected from the damage. Unscrew the rear bearing assembly and set the screws aside. Lift the rear bearing assembly off the tub, keeping in mind that it might be heavy.

    • 7

Screw on the replacement rear bearing assembly to the tub. Replace the tub in the unit. Reassemble the unit. Turn the electricity at the circuit breaker again. Use the washer as desired.
