Unplug the dryer from the wall and remove the access panel. Depending on your dryer’s model and manufacturer, the access panel is located at the top or rear of the unit and held in place with retaining clips or screws. Refer to your dryer’s owner’s manual for detailed instructions on this matter. Set the access panel aside and place the screws into a small plastic container.
Locate and loosen the screws keep the dryer tumbler in place. Once the drum is dislodged, slip on a pair of work gloves and carefully pull the drum out through the dryer’s access panel.
Remove the existing felt seal and old adhesive. Using a small plastic paint scraper, remove as much of the old felt seal and adhesive as possible, paying attention to avoid scratching or gouging the drum. Dampen a rag with denatured alcohol and wipe away any remaining adhesive residue.
Apply a thin layer of sealant to the stitch, or under, side of the replacement felt seal. Carefully insert the new seal along the drum’s edge and allow it to cure for at least two to three hours.
Reassemble the dryer drum and replace the access panel. Plug the dryer back in and use as needed.
