How to Open a Whirlpool Duet Drain Pump

The drain pump inside your Whirlpool Duet washing machine pumps waste water out of the basket several times during the course of a normal wash. Often the cause of trouble if the machine fails to empty, the drain pump sometimes becomes clogged with hair, lint and other debris washed out of the drum. Opening the drain pump provides access to the filter screen and makes it easy to clear out debris.
