Unplug the Whirlpool dryer model LGR5620KQ1 from the wall outlet. Rotate the gas supply valve to the “Off” position.
Open the door on top of the dryer to expose the lint filter. Pull the lint filter from the dryer to access the two screws at the front of the lint filter opening. Remove the screws to release the lint filter chute from the top of the dryer cabinet.
Find the horizontal seam across the front of the dryer directly beneath the cabinet top. Two clips located inside the seam hold the top of the dryer to the bottom cabinet. From the front right and left corners, measure a distance of about 3 inches toward the center of the dryer. Insert a putty knife blade into the seam at the 3 inch mark. Push the blade against the clips on each side of the dryer to release the dryer top.
Lift the top of the dryer away from the cabinet. Let the dryer top rest against the wall behind the dryer.
Look inside the cabinet along the front left corner for the door switch wire harness. Pull the harness apart.
Find the hex head screws inside the front corners of the dryer cabinet. Use a nut driver to remove these screws, releasing the dryer front panel. Lift up on the front panel, then pull it from the front of the cabinet to expose the dryer drum.
Reach beneath the drum to access the dryer belt tension pulley. Release the tension on the dryer drum belt by pushing the pulley away the dryer drum. Slide the belt from around the pulley to release it from the dryer motor.
Grab the Whirlpool dryer drum along the front lip with one hand. Grab the dryer drum belt with your other hand. Lift the dryer drum to access the burner tube.
Find the igniter inside the burner assembly tube along the left side.
