How to Troubleshoot a Whirlpool Duet Washer that Fills With Water After a Load

The Whirlpool Duet front-loading washer has a multitude of cycle options that provide varying levels of cleaning, sanitizing and rinsing based on the type of washer load. The extra rinse cycle is included in the cycle options, and is intended for re-rinsing a load to eliminate fabric softener or detergent from heavier garments. Accidental changes to your cleaning cycle can cause the washer to fill with water after the initial rinse, which results in the washer also filling immediately after the load's spin cycle. Once disabled, the extra rinse option is preventable by enabling the washer's control lock to eliminate cycle changes.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "Pause/Cancel" on the washer's control panel to halt a current wash cycle.

    • 2

Push "Rinse" on the control panel until the light next to the "Normal" option is illuminated.

    • 3

Touch "Start" to unpause the current cleaning cycle on the washer.

    • 4

Hold "Control Lock/Unlock" for 3 seconds to lock the washer's control panel, which restricts changes to the cycle.
