How to Troubleshoot a Kenmore LG Gas Dryer

Sold exclusively by Sears-owned stores, Kenmore appliances are made by manufacturers such as Whirlpool, Bosch and LG. If you experience problems with your Kenmore LG gas dryer, you might be able to troubleshoot the issue and solve it on your own. Doing so eliminates the need for a service call on the dryer.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the power cord to confirm that it is inserted into the electrical outlet securely, if your dryer will not turn on. A tripped breaker or blown fuse may also be to blame, which you can replace or reset as needed to get the power back to the machine. A bad fuse or breaker can also cause the dryer to have power but no heat.

    • 2

Look behind the dryer to confirm that the gas supply valve is open, if you have no heat in the machine. If everything looks fine with it, call you gas company to confirm you are not having issues with your gas supply.

    • 3

Follow the instructions on your fabric softener if you are getting greasy spots on the laundry. Only put clean laundry in the dryer because dirty items mixed with clean items can transfer grease and dirt.

    • 4

Lift the lint filter out of the bottom of the dryer door opening. If it is covered in lint, this can result in your laundry not getting dry or in lint getting all over your laundry. Clean the filter each time you use the machine.

Take some of the laundry out of the dryer if the machine is too full and your items are not getting dry. Too much laundry can also ball up and bounce off the sides of the dryer, creating loud noises. Also, if you only have a few items in the dryer, they may not dry satisfactorily since they will tend to clump together and not move about the dryer as they should. If you have a small load of laundry, add a few clean towels to the dryer for best results.
