Pull the Kenmore away from the wall to unplug the electrical cord that provides power for the gas igniter.
Turn the handle in the gas line on the back of the Kenmore at a 90-degree angle to the line. This closes the valve to prevent gas from reaching the dryer.
Open the lint screen cover on the top of the Kenmore to pull out the screen underneath. Loosen and remove the two screws under the screen. If your Kenmore model uses a lint screen in the door, skip this step.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the crack between the front of the Kenmore and the top. Pry up the left corner 1 inch. Repeat for the right corner.
Grab the metal clip inside the gap at each corner, using needle-nose pliers. Remove the clip.
Extract the screws on both sides of the front panel containing the door.
Pull the panel forward gently to unplug the wiring harness behind the door. Pull the plug on the harness where it connects to the socket on the back of the door. This is the wiring for the door pressure switch. You can now set aside the front panel.
Remove the screws on each edge of the bottom panel on the Kenmore. Pull down on the panel and slide off from the bottom. The burner assembly is behind the panel on the right side.
