Repairing a Kenmore Front-Load Washer That Is Not Spinning

Your Kenmore washer follows a process of programmed cycles to properly clean the clothing and other items you place inside of it. These processes include the pre-rinse, the washing cycle, rinse cycle and spin cycle. The spin cycle is designed to remove the water from the drum of the washer and from the clothing inside of the drum. If your Kenmore washer is not spinning, you likely can diagnose the problem without professional help.

Instructions

Check the main circuit breaker to make sure that the washer did not lose access to the power supply. If the breaker switch is set to "Off," simply flip it back over to "On." You may need to restart the washer after turning the power back on.

Examine the drain hoses that are hooked to the washer to make sure they are straight and not kinked. A twisted or a crooked water line may make it more difficult to remove water from the appliance. When your washer is unable to spin out water, it ceases spinning. Make sure the washer is not resting on the drain hose.

Press on the washer door to ensure that it is closed. If the washer door is partially or fully open, the appliance will not spin. After you close the door, you must press the "Start/Stop" button to restart the spin cycle.

Open the debris filter drawer at the bottom of the front of the Kenmore front-load washer. Pull out the drain tube from the drawer and place it into a bucket or other receptacle. Remove the cap from the drain hose and let the water fully drain. Replace the cap and place the drain tube back in the drawer. Close the debris filter drawer.
