How to Troubleshoot a Kenmore Quiet Pak Washer

Press “pause/cancel” twice to stop the current cycle when you get an error code. Unplug the washer and check the water connection for code “FH.” Unplug and look for a drainage kink or clog if you have code “F02.” For any other “F” codes, select “drain & spin” if there is a lot of water in the washer before re-selecting your wash cycle and pressing “start.”

Push the power cord to confirm it is secure in the wall outlet if the washer has no power or stops. Also, confirm that the door is fully shut, a cycle is selected and the “start” button was firmly pushed.

Look over behind the washer to see if the water inlet hose has a kink in it that needs to be straightened if the washer won’t fill, rinse or wash. Other possible causes of this problem are the water not being turned on and a clog where the hose connects to the washer. Check each to determine the problem. If it is a clog, you must disconnect the hose and remove the particles causing the clog.

Check for a blown household fuse or breaker if the washer stops. Remove any extension cord from the washer because that will cause the washer to stop.

Redistribute a bulky load, or check the drain hose height if the washer won’t drain. The hose cannot be more than 96 inches above the floor level. Look at the control panel to see if the “SUD” code is displayed, which means excess suds. The SUD code requires an extra cycle before draining.

Touch the edges of the washer when it is turned off to determine if it rocks back and forth, which can cause vibration noises during the cycle. If it does, loosen the legs with a wrench to adjust the height. Other causes of noise in a washer are washing items with metal buckles or buttons and sitting the washer on a floor that is not solid. A piece of plywood placed under the washer will quiet the noise that comes from the surface not being solid.

Open the door of the washer, and leave it open when not in use, if you have odors in the washer. The tight door seal can cause odors in the washer if the door is not left open to allow the washer to dry out.
