How to Take Apart a Maytag Performa PAV3360AWW Belt

When your Maytag Performa belt driving washing machine fails to pump water, the pump belt located on the bottom of the machine is either worn or broken. The same is true when the machine fails to spin. As the belts age, they become worn, shiny and loose, allowing them to slip around the pulleys rather than turning the pump and drive motors. Before calling for service on your machine, replace them with new belts. Verify the machine pumps and spins once the new belts are in place.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Maytag Performa washing machine from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Pull the washing machine about 2 to 3 feet away from the back wall. Tilt the Maytag Performa against the back wall to access the belts beneath the washer. Have an assistant hold the washing machine or prop it up on chocks, so that the machine does not fall away from the wall onto your arms.

    • 3

Find the pump belt running horizontally across the bottom of the machine toward the front of the cabinet. Roll the belt on the two pulleys as you pull the belt from the machine.

    • 4

Remove the drive belt, the larger of the two belts, by rolling it around the drive pulley and pulling it from the machine.
