How to Change the Door Latch Switch on a LTF2140ES0 Frigidaire Washer

The door latch switch of your Frigidaire LTF2140ES0 is a safety device that seals the washing machine's door while a cycle is running. You might need to replace the latch switch if the appliance is having trouble locking at the beginning of a cycle and displaying an error code. The switch is easy to access and remove once the rubber boot connecting the drum to the door frame has been released.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Open the door of the Frigidaire LTF2140ES0 washer. There is a metal loop just beneath the lip of the rubber boot where it attaches to the door frame. Pry up the lip and grip the loop with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Carefully pull the wire out of its groove and set it to one side.

    • 2

Pry the rubber boot off the rim of the washer until it hangs loose. Unplug the washer and remove the pair of square-head screws above and below the door switch. The door switch is on the right side of the door opening.

    • 3

Reach around the back of the door switch mechanism and pull it outward; disconnect the wiring connects attached to the side. Unpack the replacement mechanism and connect the wiring back in place.

    • 4

Slide the latch switch back in place and replace the two square-head screws removed in Step 2. Stretch the rubber boot back over the rim and replace the metal loop. The new latch switch is ready for use when you reconnect the power.
