My LAT9356AAE Maytag Leaks

The Maytag LAT9356AAE washing machine has a variety of wash cycles, but none of them should cause the appliance to leak. You need to investigate the cause of the problem right away.
  1. Overloading

    • One common source of leaking is an overloaded basket, which causes water to deflect off the top of the wash load and leak out the lid instead of filtering down into the basket. Do not load the machine beyond the top line of holes in the washer and do not wrap items around the agitator in the center of the machine.

    Hose Connections

    • If the water is leaking on the floor from the sides or rear of the washing machine, a loose hose connection is likely. Tighten all hose connections and straighten each hose out for better water flow to the washing machine.

    Cycle Choices

    • While pre-soaking is an option with this Maytag machine, allowing clothes to soak for more than 30 minutes can cause the appliance to start leaking water. Allow the washing machine to move into the normal wash cycle after the pre-soak cycle and do not stop the washer at the soak cycle. Check to make sure the water agitates, spins and drains before stopping the washing machine.

    Drain Hose

    • If the drain hose is too loose or not secured to the drain facility, water can leak during the drain cycle. Push the drain hose two to three inches into the drain facility and secure firmly. But do not tape or bind the drain hose to the facility, or you may create a leak.

    Repair

    • Over time, the tub seal and bearing on the Maytag washer can wear out and allow water to leak when the machine is in use. Contact Maytag for service, as this requires special tub spanner tools to repair and most owners do not have these types of tools.
