How to Remove GE Profile Washer Panels

GE Profile washing machines consist of panels that make up the cabinet holding the mechanical and electronic parts of the appliance. If the machine needs internal repairs, or you simply need to unclog the drain pump, the front or top panel must be removed to gain access. Opening the appliance for maintenance or repairs takes less than 15 minutes using basic tools. The panels have sharp edges on the insides, so work carefully to avoid cuts.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Profile power cord from the wall.

    • 2

Slide the putty knife into the gap in the left corner between the front and top panels. Pry up the top 1 inch and repeat for the right corner.

    • 3

Press on the clip in each corner with the putty knife to pop it out.

    • 4

Pull the top of the front panel forward to lift the clip in the bottom left and right corner. This disengages the front panel for removal. Lift it off and set aside.

    • 5

Pull off the bleach hose on the left side below the top panel, which can now be raised to access the drum and the door switch.

    • 6

Remove the four screws along the back top edge of the control panel to release the panel for access to the electronics inside.
