How to Troubleshoot a Motor That Won't Run in a 417.44042400 Kenmore Front-Load Washer

Kenmore's front-loading washer model 417.44042400 uses a motor to drive and rotate the drum inside the machine. The washer's motor can become overheated by prolonged and heavy usage. For this reason, the manufacturer included an "electrical overload protector" to automatically disable the motor so that it has time to cool down. Also, an overloaded motor can pose a fire hazard. The only real troubleshooting involved in restoring the motor's operation is for you to give the Kenmore washer your time and patience, while it automatically mitigates any threats to your personal safety and monetary investment in the appliance.

Instructions

    • 1

Leave the Kenmore washer's settings as is. It is not necessary to push in the "Cycle Selector" knob to stop the chosen cycle. The washer will remember your settings, though the motor has temporarily shut down.

    • 2

Use a clock to time the washer in its dormant state for 30 minutes from the current time. The motor may have stopped for several minutes prior to your noticing it, but still time it for the full 30 minutes.

    • 3

Monitor the washer. After 30 minutes, it should automatically restart after the motor has cooled down.
