Instructions

  1. Rear Leak

    • 1

Inspect the back of the washer to determine if the leak is coming from the bottom or top of the machine.

    • 2

Replace your detergent with high efficiency detergent if the leak is coming out of the bottom air vent. This type of leak is due to using the wrong detergent, which creates oversudsing in the washer. In some instances, using too much detergent can also cause this type of leak.

    • 3

Use pliers to tighten hot and cold water inlet hoses if the leak is from the top. However, if the hoses are tight but faulty, you need to buy replacement hoses. The hoses can be removed with pliers after you turn off the hot and cold wall faucets. When you connect the new hoses, keep in mind that the hose with the red line is for the hot faucet. Once the hoses are properly connected, turn the faucets back on.

    Front Leak

    • 4

Identify the source of the leak on the front of the washer. Generally, it is either the door or the drain pump filter area on the lower left.

    • 5

Open the washer door and wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Also wipe around the seal to remove any detergent buildup or other residue. This type of buildup on the door and seal can cause a leak around the washer door.

    • 6

Twist the drain pump filter cap, which is on the lower left of the washer, to confirm that it is not loose and causing the leak. Also confirm that the manual drain hose plug is secure by pushing on it. If this hose has any cracks in it causing the leak, you should disconnect power to the machine and call a qualified appliance service professional to replace it. The hose is connected to internal parts, which may present a dangerous electrical situation due to the leak.
