How to Fix a GE Spacemaker Dryer That Won't Dry

GE Spacemaker appliances are two-in-one units with a washer at the bottom and a dryer on top to save space in smaller homes; they connect to your home's power outlet or gas supply to provide power and heat to the dryer section. A lack of heat when the dryer is set to a medium or high temperature is caused by a blown fuse in your home. The Spacemaker runs on two fuses and will run without dispensing heat when one fuse is unusable. Professional service on your home's gas line or consultation with your gas provider is required to troubleshoot the problem if your home's fuse box is working properly, as your gas service may be turned off.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Spacemaker's power cable from the nearby outlet to temporarily disable power.

    • 2

Open the fuse box in your home and find the fuses that control your GE Spacemaker. The fuses' sections are labeled by room to easily determine the correct fuse.

    • 3

Turn the fuse counterclockwise to remove the fuse from its port in the box. Insert a new fuse in the empty port, and turn it clockwise to secure it into place.

    • 4

Unscrew the second fuse in the fuse box and replace it with a new fuse. Turn the fuse to the right until it is secure but not too tight, as this can break the fuse.

    • 5

Plug the Spacemaker's power cable back into the power outlet, and push "Start" to resume the cycle.
