How to Remove Frigidaire Trunnions

The trunnion is a metal circular component in your washing machine used in the washing and agitating cycles. If you notice the machine wash cycle not spinning or otherwise functioning incorrectly, it could be a faulty trunnion. While you don't have to call a repair technician to fix the problem, the process does involve partial disassembly of the washing machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off your washing machine and unplug it.

    • 2

Remove the screws on either end of the top control panel, using the Phillips screwdriver.

    • 3

Tilt up the top control panel.

    • 4

Tilt the frame of the washing machine backward so you have access to the internal components.

    • 5

Release the tabs on the sides of the tub cover to release the cover. Remove it to expose the agitator assembly.

Use your wrench to remove the bolt holding the agitator assembly in place and remove the assembly. You should see the trunnion bolted to the agitator shaft.

Remove the two bolts holding the trunnion to the shaft and slide the trunnion off the shaft to remove it.
