Unplug the washing machine. Doing so is necessary because you will work with electrical parts inside the appliance, creating the risk of electric shock unless the washing machine is unplugged.
Remove the pair of screws at the top of the back panel. They are screwed into the top panel.
Slide the top panel backward to disengage the locking tabs. Lift upward to remove the top panel from the washer.
Push the timer knob firmly inward, and turn it counterclockwise. The knob will separate from the control panel.
Pinch the locking tabs of the timer indicator with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Continue to pinch the locking tabs while you pull the timer indicator outward to remove it from the washer. That task will reveal the timer.
