How to Troubleshoot Top Loading Beeping on a Frigidaire Washer

Frigidaire, which began as a company that produced refrigerators, makes several different models of top-loading washing machines. A beeping in your Frigidaire top-loading washer likely indicates a problem you may be able to fix yourself, regardless of the particular model of your washer. Troubleshooting the machine is not complicated and often solves the issue without the need for expensive repairs.

Open the washing machine from the top and redistribute the load inside. The load may have tangled inside the drum or shifted so it is uneven, causing a beeping alarm.

    • 2

Verify that you don't have too much fabric in the load. Top-loading washing machines have load limits and a large comforter or a large amount of clothing could jam the system and cause beeping as the washer shuts down. Remove any large items to lighten the load.

    • 3

Unplug the machine and plug it back in. If the machine suffered a brief power outage or brownout during operation, it may start beeping. Unplugging it helps reset it so you can start the wash cycle over again.

Check the display for an error message. Typically, E13 means a system leak on Frigidaire washers. E23 and E24 mean a problem with the drain pump. E41 means the door to the washer is open or the machine thinks it is, which could be a sensor issue. E44, E45 and E46 all indicate a control board problem. In each case, the specific issue needs repair before the beeping stops and the machine resumes operation. You'll likely need professional repair.

Verify the washer is level. If a slanted floor places the washer on a tilt, it may malfunction and start beeping in response. Place a level on the top of the washing machine to make sure it is properly balanced. If the level indicates the washer is tilted, correct the tilt by adjusting the feet of the washer or by placing something under the feet to get the machine level. This improves operation and should stop the beeping if the tilt caused the alarm.

Examine your control panel to ensure a button isn't stuck, which may also cause a beeping alarm. If so, pulling the button back out stops the alarm.
