How to Hook Cabinet Clips on a Top-load Whirlpool Washer

Whirlpool top-loading washing machines have a single cabinet that must be removed when you perform repairs. The cabinet covers the top, left and right sides, and front of the washer. The cabinet is secured to the rear panel with two clips, which are located below the control panel. When you reassemble your washing machine after you perform repairs, you must properly install these two clips, as they secure the main cabinet to the rear panel.

  Pull the rear panel of the washer toward the cabinet, and apply firm pressure to snap the rear panel into the rear of the cabinet.

  Insert the vertical portion of the spring clip into the slot on the rear panel of the washer, in line with the spring clip slot on the top of the washer cabinet.

  Use a flat-head screwdriver to press the front portion of the spring clip down into the hole on the top of the washer cabinet. The clip snaps into the cabinet, securing the cabinet and the rear panel.

  Repeat the process to install the other spring clip on the other side of the top of the washer cabinet.
