How to Test Whirlpool Dryers

A test of your Whirlpool dryer's efficiency is necessary to ensure safe drying of your wet or damp clothes. The amount of heat required for your Whirlpool dryer's load depends on the weight of the load, as heavyweight garments require higher drying temperatures while lightweight garments are best dried on a low or air dry setting. Automatic cycles have a preset time that shuts off once the dryer detects that the clothes are nearly free of moisture, and manual cycles allow customization for your specific laundry requirements.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the dryer's power adapter into an electric outlet to power on the appliance.

    • 2

Open the dryer's door and pull the lint screen from the bottom of the door's opening. Wipe off the lint before a load, and insert the screen into the door's opening to secure it in the slot.

    • 3

Insert wet or damp clothes in the dryer's drum, and shut the door to secure it.

    • 4

Push "Power" on the dryer's control panel, and turn the cycle knob to an automatic cycle or manual cycle. The automatic cycle options are located at the top of the knob, whereas the manual cycle options are below the knob.

    • 5

Push "Start/Pause" to test the dryer setting. The dryer displays the current process of the cycle on the control panel, and buzzes when the clothes are dry.
