How to Replace the Door Gasket on a GE Adora

General Electric Adora front-loading dishwashers have a large rubber gasket that connects to the drum and front panel of the washer and suctions itself to the door when the door is closed to help prevent leakage when the machine is in operation. If you notice water coming from the door, you should consider removing the door gasket to inspect it for any damage, such as a rip. You can then manually replace the gasket with a new gasket, which you can order from the manufacturer or an online retailer.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your GE Adora washer away from the wall, and disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Turn the water supply valve to the "Off" position to shut off the water to the dishwasher.

    • 3

Open the front washer door, and pull the spring and wire from the bottom of the door gasket using needle-nose pliers.

    • 4

Pull the rubber gasket off of the edge of the front panel. Remove the entire gasket by pulling it forward and out of the washer drum.

    • 5

Place a small amount of liquid dishwasher detergent around the new gasket part to help ease it into the washer.

    • 6

Slide the new gasket around the washer drum, and then use your thumbs to press the gasket around the groove on the front panel.

    • 7

Reconnect the spring and wire using the needle-nose pliers. Turn the water supply valve to the "On" position, and reconnect the power supply.
