How to Repair an Internal Leak From the Lid of a Kenmore Washing Machine

An internal leak from the inside of your Kenmore washing machine is caused by a dirty gasket -- the gray seal around the washer's door -- that accumulates detergent residue over time. Residue collects underneath the gasket and loosens the seal around the washer door, which must be kept clean to prevent water from leaking while the washer is in use. Laundry detergents labeled "HE" are high efficiency detergents that reduce the total amount of residue buildup and are recommended for use with your Kenmore washer over regular detergents. A persistent leak will require replacement of the washer's gasket as it may be worn out and irreparable.
