How to Install a Kenmore HE3t Washer Pump

The water pump, located behind the toe panel of your Kenmore HE3t washing machine, is used to clear water from the tub at the end of each wash cycle. You might have removed the pump that came with the appliance if it was defective, leaking water or having problems communicating with the main control panel. Installing and connecting a replacement to the necessary plumbing takes about 20 minutes.

Instructions

Locate the black pipe running from the tub. It should have a metal clamp wrapped around the loose end. Pinch the tabs on the clamp with a pair of pliers and slip the pipe over the connection on the back of the pump. Release the clamp to hold the pipe in position. Repeat the process with the white hose, attaching it to the connection on the right of the pump.

Hook the three rubber grommets attached to the frame of the washing machine to the bottom of the pump. The middle grommet -- the one nearest the front of the washer -- attaches to the middle hook on the bottom of the pump. The two rear grommets attach to the left and right sides.

Lift up the black plastic protective cover on the right side of the pump and attach the old pump's wiring harness to the socket underneath. Let the plastic cover fall back into place over the connection.

Replace the metal toe cover and tighten the three screws along the bottom edge to hold it in place. Connect the washing machine to the power supply and confirm the hot and cold water pipes are hooked up to your plumbing. The new pump is ready for use.
