How to Lubricate a Maytag Dryer

If your Maytag clothes dryer is squeaking, it likely means the motor needs to be oiled. Accessing your Maytag dryer motor can seem intimidating since it is located on the inside of the unit and can only be accessed through disassembly. However, the outer frame of your Maytag clothes dryer is designed to be removed quickly, allowing you to perform the lubrication task yourself.

Instructions

      Unplug your dryer and move it away from the wall.

      Remove the screws on the bottom of the front panel.

    • 3

      Lift the panel up from the bottom. This will release the top clips.

      Unplug the wiring harness from the port behind the front panel and remove the front panel completely.

      Remove the screws on the metal bulkhead. Remove the metal bulkhead from the cabinet. You will now have access to the motor assembly. Notice the belt wheel on the motor.

      Add a couple drops of industrial lubricant or machine oil to the bearings on the belt wheel.

      Replace the bulkhead and front panel of the dryer.
