Almost all washing machines, including GE washers, have a drain pump to remove water after the wash cycle. However, if the water is not pumping out of the tub, the likely reason is that the drain pump is clogged. The pump can get blocked with items that fall out of pockets and into the washing machine, such as crayons, coins, hair bands or keys. When the drain pump is not working and water does not drain, the drain pump filter needs to be cleaned. Cleaning the pump filter is a messy process, so have several towels on hand.
