Disconnect power to the washer by unplugging the cord or turning off the circuit breaker the unit plugs into.
Open the door, and remove the four Phillips-head screws around the edge of the door opening.
Remove the Phillips-head screws from the door hinges. Lift the door slightly and pull the hinge tabs out of the slots in the washer.
Push in on the upright posts on each side of the door opening. Twist the outer edges of the posts away from the body of the washer, and pull out on the posts. Pull the front panel off the washer.
Remove the metal shield from the motor control unit in the lower right hand side of the washer chassis. Press the locking tab on the lower left side of the shield, and pull the shield off the unit. Disconnect the wiring harness that runs from the motor control unit to the motor.
Loosen and remove the two Phillips-head screws in front of the motor control board assembly. Slide the motor control unit toward the front of the washer and lift it off the motor control frame.
Insert the locating tab of a replacement motor control into the slot on the rear of the control frame, and slide the control toward the back of the washer until it locks into place. Insert and tighten the two screws in front of the assembly. Connect the wiring harness to the motor. Place the shield over the unit and lock the tab into place.
Place the front panel on the washer. Press in on the upright posts to lock them onto the washer. Slide the hinge tabs into the slots in the washer. Lower the door until the tabs lock into place. Install and tighten the screws in the door hinges.
Install and tighten the four Phillips-head screws around the door opening.
